1 Remusat, Madame de. MEMOIRS OF THE EMPRESS JOSEPHINE.
New York Collier & Sons 1910 Second Am Ed
2 vols totaling 772pp. 6 plates. VG orignal decorated cloth, rather badly spotted, contents vg+. Claire de Remusat was Josephine's closest friend, and a central figure of the Imperial Court. Many historians (Cronin, Tulard, etc)have made much of the fact that her LETTERS, written under the Empire, present a somewhat more flattering picture of Napoleon than these MEMOIRS, written under the restoration. For the best account of Madame Remusat and her relationship with Josephine, see Evangeline Bruce's wonderful NAPOLEON AND JOSEPHINE.
