Bruce, a civilian, traveled extensively through Europe during the Napoleonic wars. He was present at the bombardment of Copenhagen in 1807, the Peninsula 1808-1810, Paris during Ney's trial (extensive and valuable account), connived in the escape of Count Lavalette (and was imprisoned for his trouble). Scarce and colorful.
